Elementary

Children in kindergarten through 5th grade are part of St. James' elementary program.  A strong focus continues to be the cultivation of our values as a Catholic School which include kindness, respect, integrity, honesty, and faith.  

Academics is another major focus. Though rigorous, our approach is designed to engage students and help foster the joy of learning.  

Our elementary grades use the below programs:

• Responsive Classroom 
• Eurkeka Squared Math
• Teacher's College Writing Workshop
• Handwriting Without Tears
• Journeys (Reading)

Since academic expectations are high at St. James, students who need some extra assistance work with our Academic Support Team.  These teachers provide one-on-one and small-group instruction beyond the classrooms.
